Outside pedestrian protection airbags aim to reduce the severity of head injuries by absorbing energy at the points of a vehicle that a pedestrian would most likely impact during a collision.
Upon impact, Autoliv’s Pedestrian Protection Airbag deploys in less than 60 milliseconds from under the hood near the base of the windshield.
The system is located under the hood at the base of the windshield. Upon an impact, the airbag deploys within 60 milliseconds and is low enough to still enable the driver to see the road ahead – crucial in a panic stop.
