The all-electric Ford Mustang Cobra Jet 1400 prototype has beaten expectations through an intensive testing and development process, blazing through a quarter-mile in 8.27 seconds at 168 miles per hour and reaching 1,502 peak wheel horsepower at a private test.
The study, titled OCTOPUS (Optimised Components, Test and simulatiOn, toolkits for Powertrains which integrate Ultra high-speed motor Solutions) follows an initial 18-month investigation that delivered a technological breakthrough in electric drive systems for high-performance vehicles.
Building on the UK’s leading electronics research, the resulting electric drive system exceeded the latest permanent magnet motor performance while simultaneously removing the need for both rare-earth magnets and copper windings, delivering a package both cost effective and recyclable at its end of life.
OCTOPUS will take this leading-edge motor, power electronics and packaging transmission design, adding next generation materials, manufacturing processes, simulation and test cycles to deliver a full e-axle powertrain with unique levels of integration and revolutionary performance characteristics suitable for real world application by 2026.
HUBER+SUHNER has launched its new Direct Current (DC) high-power charging system RADOX HPC200, completing the company’s renowned RADOX HPC portfolio.
Every business functions differently and everyone has different needs. That’s why Fiat Professional equipped the new E-Ducato with four different charging options so your business can always stay on the road. The smart-charge plug fits both AC (alternating current) and DC (direct current) charging configurations. When using an AC setup, E-Ducato gives you the opportunity to choose between a wide range of powers: 7 kW, 11 kW and 22 kW. With the quick charge (AC) and 22 kW power, the estimated charging time for 100 km is approximately one hour. When needed, the fast charge (DC) with 50 kW power guarantees 100 km of driving in less than 30 minutes charge.
MAN’s new 18-metre electric bus and the solo bus variant impress with a reliable range of 200 km (and up to 270 km in favourable conditions) over the entire service life of the battery.
In December 2019, MAN Truck & Bus delivered the first two 12-metre electric buses to the transport operators Hamburger Hochbahn AG and Verkehrsbetriebe Hamburg-Holstein GmbH for everyday use in the Hanseatic port city. This year, another 13 demo vehicles will be deployed in practice as part of the e-mobility roadmap. Over the course of 2020, the demo fleet of 15 electric buses in total will then be running customers’ services in five European countries (Germany, Spain, Luxembourg, Belgium, France).
